New York Fashion Week

It's the 3rd day New York Fashion Week is on and we count four more until the end. However, some of the trends of the upcoming winter are already apparent.
After the "late '50s - early '60s" revival we saw last year, and which will last until next summer, we are going to see a "late '60s - early '70s" revival, which responds exactly to the pessimistic period we are going through. Ethnic look, dropped (mid-calf and floor-length) hemlines, "flares" and "bags"(or palazzo pants) trousers, high platform soles and fluid skirts represented a more romantic and revolutionary position against the Western consumeristic society of that era. And all these were inspired of course of another similar era, the one of the Great Depression, as well as of the '40s, another  pessimistic and hard period.
Many of these elements were detected on the catwalk the past two days: the ethnic look coming of geometrical prints and fluid long skirted dresses was the one that stood out. Flares made also their comeback, as we hadn't seen them since the early '00s. And last but not least is leather, an element offered in a wide range: either leather garments or leather details (like leather harnesses) or leather accessories...
