A delayed Sunny May...

Ok! Two months of absence is more than enough... But I have very good reasons for that and I'm sure you will understand... or, I hope you will so.

So, I left you on the 8th of April back in Athens, living in a small apartment with my boyfriend and our cat, searching for a job in London, preparing to apply at London College of Fashion for a Fashion Journalism Master and being in the brink of depression.

Two months later I have moved in London, have found a job, have applied at LCF and still waiting for a reply (hopefully positive) and have found myself again... Well, I feel kind of lonely, but I like it here. The only thing I don't like, and am trying not to thinking about, is the room where I'm gonna move in 4 days. I HATE London apartments. But I hope it will only last for 1 month and a half, so I will be patient. And now I see why my boyfriend called me stupid when I told him that I want to stay in Elephant and Castle, cause I love its name. Cause this area has nothing to do with the fairy tale name it firstly brought me in mind when I saw it on the map... But still, I hope I won't stay there long.

These two months of my absence were vital for my life and extremely busy, so I don't regret leaving you. The first one, until the 10th of May I had to manage be prepared for the IELTS Exams, which I needed to take in order to apply at the LCF, prepare my application for LCF and finally move out from my lovely apartment in Athens. The second month I had to come in London and search for a job, which didn't last long, while I was called for an interview my 3rd day here. So, three weeks later I am working part time at Gap and am searching for another part time job, cause I have to make a living here...

During my absence I tried some times to post something but I didn't manage it in the end. So, now I'm gonna post what I wanted to back in May, so don't wander about the sunny photos, cause it was already summer back in Athens when I left...
And these were my April-May inspirations more or less:

Plex me up

These bags are the hottest thing I've seen lately! It's going to be the talk of the town and I'm sure of it. Urania Gazelli is a greek designer who decided to bring together the family business with fashion. And she 's doing great!
Her plexiglass clutch bags blew our minds at Paris Premiere Classe one month ago with their originality  and elegance. I had never thought before that a material as cold as this could be transformed into such a fresh fashion item. The bags are totally handcrafted with Plexiglass being the basic material and are signed with the brand's signature gold sign on the inside.
Sadly, they are not on the market yet but they are going going to be available on her website soon, for online purchases. As for the prices, there's going to be a range between 400-700 euros, which I find very logical if you consider how expensive the material is and that each one of them demands two full days of work until ready to be carried.

Let me know how you find them, cause I dream of the day I'll carry one of them...

Tights, tights, tights...

I know it's a bit late for tights now, as the weather is getting warmer day by day, but I couldn't help not sharing this collaboration with you. You probably are already aware of it and I would be as well if I was visiting asos more often, but I have to admit that I prefer Topshop as it concerns online shopping (my eyes can't stand the image overload over there and after a few pages I'm knocked out).
So, back to the tights now. It's the collaboration of House of Holland with Pretty Polly that fascinated me and it's no wonder why. The colour variety is not wide, as they only come in two or three colours with black dominating the collection. The prints though are great and even the animal-printed version could become a part of my wardrobe (which would be so not me, as I I'm not very fond of animal prints, however this is a really good one). Thus I think you already got it: even though summer is approaching I'm going to buy a pair of them for sure... and I'm not sure if I'm going to wait until fall to wear them. Don't forget that there are also three pairs you can find exclusively to asos. Visiting this page can get you directly to the whole collection...
Have a nice shopping time!

Charleston!

All this luxury! Can't wait to get dressed like a silent movie star, since the hottest news of this season is undoubtedly the 1920s come back and I love it. Dropped waists and straight-line chemises, feathered head bands, pleats, opera gloves and cloche hats. However, for the Spring/Summer 2012 season the 1920s style was only adopted by the evening wear. Still, we have a lot daywear of this decade (including cloche hats, which is not exactly my cup of tea) to see in the Fall/Winter season. Or, if you can't wait until next season, I have found plenty of these at etsy and ebay and I'm sure I'm going to find a lot more after a small search... Till then, feel free to share with us your 1920s findings.

Clockwise from top left: etsy feather head band, Pola Negri portrait, etsy vintage 1920s dress, Topshop feather clips, 2 1920s inspired outfits of Whitney Houston in "I have Nothing", Coco Chanel 1920s portrait, Topshop metal drape head band, Jeanne Lanvin 1920s design, Topshop top, ebay 1920s beaded bag, unknown source yellow-pearl necklace, Marlene Dietrich photo, vintage 1920s shoes.

And here are the runway 1920s outfits of this season:

Collette Dinnigan

Dior

Etro

Gucci

Marc Jacobs

Classic Style Faves...

Today I thought of introducing you the movie heroes/heroines, where I love to look back every now and then for style inspiration. All of them represent different styles I am fond of, but in the same time they all are elegant and chic. As for the men, they also constitute icons and represent the men's style I mostly admire. I must to admit though that if the same outfits were worn by other movie stars, it wouldn't be the same. It is no coincidence that I admire most of them as actors too and these movies (well, not all of them) are some of my favourites. So, here they are and I hope that some of you agree with me, at least with some of them...

Diane Keaton in Annie Hall
(I prefer though Manhattan)

Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca

Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby

Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby
(I could post all the outfits she wore in this movie...)

Tom Waits in Down by Law

Monica Bellucci in Malena

Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face

Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's

Johnny Depp in Dead Man

Tippi Hedren in The Birds

And this is my favourite Barbie as Tippi Hedren in The Birds
(In case you don't know what to get me for my birthday;) )

Cherry blossoms

One of the most beautiful celebrations begun today in Washington D.C., a 100 years since the Japanese gave the cherry trees to the Americans. Unfortunately there are not so many left, but it doesn't stop the city to look the most amazing in this time of the year... A ticket to Washington (or Japan most preferably) wanted immediately!!!

Deal with God

Looking for the Bohemian Rhapsody video for the last post, I run into this comment and couldn't help not posting it immediately, cause it's too great not to do so. Ok, it may have been a bit mean to Katy Perry (she's not so bad), but as a huge fan of Freddie, no harm, no foul...

So, why don't we make a deal, God.
We'll give a free Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez for a Freddie Mercury.
We'll also give a bonus pack of THREE Jonas Brothers, AND a completely free Katy Perry and any other of these horrible demons Satan sent to make our ears bleed.

GOD: and why would I want a Justin Bieber

Vintage memories...

When I was 15, I used to dream of being a teenager in the 1970s or studying at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy (well, this last one may have been a little earlier, like 13, but whatever). Of course this renunciation of my life was due to the great mass of Queen and Pink Floyd vinyls I was listening to all day long, getting on my sister's nerves. This and the Harry Potter-mania were making my ordinary life seem such boring... Then, years later, I discovered the 1950s and a more feminine side of me woke up, thirsty for midi-length full skirts matched with tight tops. The '50s are also responsible for my love for vintage things, lace and chiffon.
Thank God, I no more dream of living back then, as I have found Mika and Prada! Ok, this last one may have been heard a little excessive: Prada is not the only '50s one that I found this season, it's also Louis Vuitton, Dolce Gabbana and many others, but it was a way to introduce you the 1950s' aesthetic video campaign of Prada (another 1950s-based campaign was the one of Louis Vuitton posted yesterday).
We've seen together the campaign in pictures, so now let's enjoy it in motion, too.

A great hit, the first Harry Potter memory, a sound that seems to me vintage, a vintage (1952) Vogue cover and the vintage Prada campaign...

A candy world

Louis Vuitton's candy-coloured ad campaign for S/S 2012 is just perfect!
The collection itself is a big hit, but the ad campaign is another level. So girly and feminine, so much PINK! It reminds me of innocent girl stuff-talks in the 1950s, like the first kiss or who's the most handsome boy at school.
I loved the big lace collars and the large white buttons on the tweed skirtsuits. And the hair, it was amazing! Marc Jacobs did a great job again! But I started dreaming of pale colours now, like mint, yellow and pink...and the worst I started dreaming of colourful fatty treats, like cupcakes, macarons and candies. The bad thing is only that it's 12 o' clock at night here aka a bit hard to find any of these, which means I 'm going to eat my vanilla ice cream leftovers... (thank God there are some strawberries too in the fridge).
I'm going for the fridge raid now...
